Should you buy an induction cooker to save LPG consumption due to daily water boiling - An analysis.

Let's see how much we can save in LPG bill

To know this we must know how much gas is saved by using induction cooker.

My gas lasts approx. 45 days with 15 minutes of water boiling every day.

My gas cylinder contains 14.5 kg gas
That means I spend 14.5×1000g/45 days = 332.2gm LPG per day.

Considering an average cooking time of 2.5 hours per day, for 15 minutes I use (332.2g/2.5×4)= 32.2gm LPG.

My per day gas usage reduces to 322.2-32.2 = 290gm LPG.

So let's see how many more days my cylinder will last.

14.5×1000/290= 50 days...Just 5 days extra!

Now let's see what's the annual savings in gas.

Number of cylinders with one cylinder every 45 days = 365/45 = 8.11.
Annual cost 8.11×500 = 4055 Rs.

Number of cylinders with one cylinder every 50 days = 365/50 = 7.3
Annual cost 7.3×500 = 3650 Rs.

Total gas bill savings with induction cooker is 4055 - 3650 = 405 Rs.

Now let's see what is the additional electricity bill.

1800 watts induction cooker @ 15 minutes a day for 2 months = 1.8/4×60 = 27 units.

Additional electricity bill @ Rs 5.8 per unit = 27×5.8 = Rs. 156.6

Yearly additional electricity bill = 156.6 × 6 = 939.6
Cost of amazon's best seller induction cooker = 1250 Rs.

Total cost of using induction cooker = 936.6+1250= 2189.6 Rs.

Total loss by using induction cooker for boiling water is 405 - 2189.6 = -1784.6 Rs.

So it's a clear loss of money buying an induction cooker for this purpose.

More over I don't have to tell your how important it is to save electricity considering global warming climate changes and changes in rain patterns.

This may come handy if your wife or mother pester you to buy induction cooker to save LPG gas.
